OVERVIEW

Bousfields was retained by Mod Developments (197 Yonge) Inc. to amend the City of Toronto’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law with respect to 197, 197R and 201 Yonge Street. The amendments would permit the construction of a 60-storey residential tower, while rehabilitating an existing (currently vacant) Canadian Bank of Commerce building and carefully incorporating it into the development.

The proposal would convey a portion of the rear of the site to Massey Hall, Toronto’s most historic concert venue, to make lands available for the construction of both front-of-house and back-of-house facilities. The proposal represents an opportunity to introduce intensification in Toronto’s Downtown, while making a significant contribution to the cultural life and heritage fabric of the city.
