OVERVIEW

Bousfields was retained by Menkes Developments and Great Gulf Homes to provide planning and urban design advice in connection with a proposal to redevelop the Sheridan Nurseries site in the former City of Etobicoke, across from Sherway Gardens Shopping Centre. The proposal was for 990 condominium units in four towers, ranging in height from 19 to 32 storeys. The overall master plan for the site included retail space; a large, open, landscaped area; and a reconfigured Toronto Transit Commission bus lay-by facility.

The proposal was supported by City staff, but was refused by City of Toronto Council. At the Ontario Municipal Board hearing, Laurie McPherson provided planning evidence in support of the proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments. The Board approved the development in June 2005.
