Bousfields Inc. was retained by Woodbine International Centre Corporation and Woodbine International Hotel Corporation (later King Square Limited) to provide planning services relating to the development of 4.64 hectares of vacant land located on the north side of Markland Street, west of Woodbine Avenue in the City of Markham. The proposal would permit the development of an integrated mixed-use centre containing both hotel and residential uses, a conference and trade centre facility with ancillary retail and service commercial uses, office uses, restaurants, a spa/fitness centre and a winter garden.
Bousfields Inc. prepared a Planning Rationale Report and a draft Official Plan and Draft Zoning By-law in support of the development, as well as project management related to a Site Plan application for Phase 1, which included conference and trade centre facility, retail and service commercial uses, office uses, restaurants and a spa/fitness centre. In addition, Bousfields Inc. also represented the client at the Committee of Adjustment for various consent and minor variance applications. Site works for Phase 1 of the development are currently underway.
