OVERVIEW

Bousfields was retained to carry out the Markham Yonge/Steeles Corridor Urban Design Study in conjunction with an application with the Town of Markham for a high-rise multi-purpose development on 7161-7171 Yonge Street. The study analyzed the corridor from an urban design perspective to develop and recommend an urban design vision. The study proposed an urban structure plan which represents an appropriate urban design strategy for the development of a transit-related corridor and intensification that matches scales of the existing low-rise neighbourhoods.

The urban design study was published in 2008 and its outcomes provide an appropriate urban design framework in which to develop the corridor, including 7161-7171 Yonge Street.
