Here’s a closer look at the thinking behind our 2026 Pride logo—and the collaboration between our DEI Committee and Graphics Team that brought it to life.
Planning, Urban Design and Engagement often intersects with questions of long-term wellbeing—both in the communities we help shape and beyond them. This year, we took that perspective to Bike for Brain Health—supporting @baycrestfoundation work while fundraising together as a team and getting out on our bikes. Together, our team raised over $12,000, with participants cycling distances ranging from 30 to 90 km in support of brain health research and care. The funds raised in support of this effort contribute to ongoing research and care focused on brain health.

Bousfields is proud to be a part of the team behind a new seasonal sports dome for @havergalcollege. Last month the minor variances to accommodate the height and setbacks were approved at North York Committee of Adjustment. As Bousfields Senior Associate, Courtney Heron-Monk, noted “this project represents a significant milestone as the first (and currently only) sports dome supporting an independent girls’ school in the City. It will provide year-round athletic space, helping to remove barriers to access and supporting the continued growth of girls in sport. A great outcome not only for Havergal, but for the broader community as well.”

Through private-public partnership, this site will become a thriving hub of affordable housing, exceptional retail, and a state-of-the-art paramedics facility. We are excited to share that the Final Report recommending approval for the proposed redevelopment of 45 Grenoble Drive was adopted at April’s Toronto City Council meeting. This project proposes to transform the existing vacant space at the southeast corner of the site into a new purpose-built rental apartment building that will support the activation and animation of Grenoble Drive and bring new amenities for existing and future residents to enjoy. Bousfields is proud to have led the planning, urban design and community engagement for the project, in close collaboration with the rest of the project team, including BDP Quadrangle, STUDIO tla, and RJ Burnside, on behalf of Gateway Properties. Our Planning Intern, James Burden, is wrapping up his term today. He brought thoughtful questions, steady execution and a willingness to contribute to our teams over the last few months. Shout out to Anne James for mentoring with intention and helping this future planner to grow. Thank you James for all your contributions! David has extensive experience in obtaining development approvals (Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law Amendment, Site Plan Approval, Plan of Subdivision, Plan of Condominium, Consent and Minor Variance), project coordination and management, undertaking reports and studies (Planning and Urban Design Rationales, Segment Studies, Block Context Plans, Housing Issues Reports) and associated research assignments, as well as providing expert planning witness at the Ontario Land Tribunal and presenting to Council, Committees and the general public.

In line with Bousfields Inc.’s collaborative approach, David works to build strong relationships with clients, consultants, community members and municipal staff to work towards solutions and positive outcomes.

Specializing in land use planning matters, he has been involved in a number of intensification and infill projects, as well as greenfield projects, throughout Toronto and the GTA. These projects include residential, commercial, office, institutional and mixed-use developments.

David joined Bousfields Inc. in 2004 as a full-time planner and became a partner in 2015. David earned an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree from the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo (2002). David is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and a Registered Professional Planner in Ontario.

David is a well-rounded planner with experience in development planning, policy planning, urban design, and community design. Prior to joining Bousfields Inc. in January 2015, David was a Planner with the City of Hamilton for ten years, where he developed his expertise in planning and community design associated with development approvals, policy initiatives and planning studies. David has been involved in the design and approval of various projects including secondary plans, master plans, large-scale shopping centre redevelopments, draft plan of subdivisions, residential and mixed-use developments, and residential infill.

David is a Registered Professional Planner in Ontario and a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and has been qualified as an expert planning witness at the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Caitlin Allan

Caitlin has an extensive range of experience with development proposals throughout Toronto and the GTHA. She has a diverse background in land use planning matters in progressively responsible roles. Caitlin works with a range of clients to lead and manage complex multi-disciplinary projects and resolve land use issues. She has given expert evidence at the Ontario Land Tribunal, prepared evidence for hearings, expropriation hearings and arbitration hearings and has deputed numerous times before Community Councils and the Committee of Adjustment.

Caitlin is a Registered Professional Planner with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. She holds a Master of Science in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, graduating with distinction. She previously earned a Bachelor and Arts and Science degree (with honours) from McMaster University, where she combined with Human Geography.
